Glass fiber industry market status

In 2017, the glass fiber industry ushered in the construction boom of tank kiln projects. Under the active coordination of the association and the leadership of key enterprises, the industrial capacity expansion was orderly.  In 2017, the total output of glass fiber yarn in the industry reached 4.08 million tons, up 12.70% year on year.  In 2018, the total output of glass fiber yarn in the industry reached 4.68 million tons, up 14.71% year on year.  With the increase of environmental protection and safety supervision, the production and application of downstream composite material products tend to be standardized, and the demand for ceramic and crucible ball drawing products is greatly reduced, while the demand for non-alkali and high-performance glass fiber is steadily increasing.  At the same time, thermoplastic yarn, electronic yarn and other products market demand continues to maintain rapid growth, some market supply and demand tightening.

In terms of exports, the whole industry exported 1.446 million tons of glass fiber and products in 2017, up 10.40% year on year.  In 2018, the whole industry exported 1.5873 million tons of glass fiber and products, up 9.74% year on year.  With the impact of the economic recovery in the United States, the European Union and other developed countries, Europe and the United States are constantly looking for measures and methods to reduce carbon emissions, making the use of lightweight high-strength fiber composite materials increasingly extensive, driving the continuous growth of the global demand for glass fiber.

In 2021,he total output of glass fiber reinforced composite products in China was about 5.1 million tons, up 14.6 percent year on year.  The outbreak of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020 has had a severe impact on the production of glass fiber reinforced composite products in terms of recruitment, transportation and procurement, and a large number of enterprises have stopped production.  After entering the second quarter, with the strong support of the central and local governments, most enterprises resumed production and work, but some small and medium-sized enterprises with small scale and weak strength fell into hibernation, which further improved the degree of industrial concentration to a certain extent, and the order volume of enterprises increased steadily.
